1 – What I am reading – Laws of Life: Ditch the System. Design Your Life – Jack Spirko
My friend Andy is part of Jack Spirko’s expert council on The Survival Podcast. I’ve heard him mention how much he enjoys Jack’s podcast, so when I saw that Jack had released a book, picking up a copy was an easy decision.
Jack drew from his life experiences to create 16 “Laws of Life.” Most are simple—examples include Always Be on Time and Choose Good Friends. But Jack’s call to action is to actually implement these laws in your own life. Through personal stories of both success and failure, he illustrates the lessons that shaped the creation of this book.
As I read through it, I couldn’t help but feel that these principles resemble the kind of wisdom an old-school, great father figure would pass down to his children—timeless advice packed with insight that, if followed, can lead to a fulfilling life.
The law I’m currently focusing on applying is Chapter Six: “What You Do Matters.” Nothing impacts your life more than the choices you make—or choose not to make. This principle is helping me reframe many aspects of my daily life. Before making any decision, I ask myself: Is this something I truly want to do? Is it worth doing? (Sometimes, you may not want to do something, but if it contributes to a long-term goal, it’s worth doing.) And if it’s not, I consider how I can make a change to start doing the things that truly matter.
Jack Spirko’s book is currently a top seller on Amazon, so grab a copy and use these principles to start building a better life for yourself!
2 – The Murph Challenge –
This past Monday / Memorial Day I completed Murph (1 mile run, 100 Pull Ups, 200 Push Ups, 300 Air Squats, 1 Mile Run. Wearing a 20# vest). “Murph” is a workout done annually on Memorial Day to honor Navy SEAL Lieutenant Michael P. Murphy, who sacrificed his life in Afghanistan in 2005. Most Crossfit gyms around the world participate. I am still recovering from the volume of each exercise, but it’s a great community event to all push each other in memory of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

3 – Fish Oil
I don’t take many supplements as I try to get most of what my body needs through my diet, but one that makes the list is a good fish oil. I try to eat salmon at least two meals a week, but this supplement helps make sure I am getting enough Omega 3 on a daily basis. Omega 3’s support heart health, reduces inflammation, boosts brain function, and improves joint health. Hard to argue any of those benefits.
If you want to learn more about fish oil I’ll link some info from experts much smarter than I am.

I take the below brand. The lemon taste covers any of the bad “fish burps”.

And you’re out. Have a great week
