Why GORUCK, MIZUNO, and OOFOS Are My Go-To Footwear

1 – TRAIN – GORUCK Ballistic Trainer

I love this shoe so much for training I own three pair. I have tried so many different styles of training shoes over the years (Nike Metcons, Nobull Trainers, Reebok Nano, etc), but the GORUCK’s are my favorite. For me they have the perfect combination of being rigid enough for weightlifting, yet soft and flexible enough to do more dynamic movements like short runs, box jumps, jump rope, etc.

2 – RUN – MIZUNO Wave RIDERS

Full disclosure: I work for this company, so I’m definitely biased. That said, I love running in our Wave Riders. As a bigger guy—about 230 pounds—the combination of foam and the wave plate really holds up to the pounding I put them through on my runs. I’ve tried some high-stack-height runners before, but they felt too unstable. The Wave Rider is a well-rounded daily trainer that works for just about anyone—from beginners to marathon junkies. In my experience, they’re very comparable to other shoes I’ve owned from Brooks or Saucony.

3 – RECOVER – OOahh Sandals

I spend a decent amount of time on my feet—between coaching, training, rucking, and running—so when I’m not doing those things, I love sliding into my OOFOS OOahh sandals. The only way I can describe it is that it feels like walking on clouds. I’ve owned mine for a couple of years, and they’re still holding up great.

And you’re out. Have a great week
