1 – What I Am Reading – Stand Firm & Act Like Men – Pastor Joby Martin
Becoming the man you were created to be instead of who the world says you are.
At the beginning of the year, I decided one of my focuses would be to level up as a Father and Husband. I knew that to do that, working on myself was where I needed to start. I had never heard of Pastor Joby Martin, but this book was recommended on the Nick Bare Podcast. I’m only a few chapters in, but so far, I’m enjoying it. There is a clear distinction between what our culture thinks of a “real man” (Joby describes them as “Dudes”) versus what a real, sturdy man actually is. I want to strive to be the latter, and I think this book will help. At my funeral I hope those who knew me can say at least one thing “he was a good man”.
1 Corinthians 16:13: “Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love.”
2 – What Am I Listening To
When I listen to Colter Wall I feel like I am sitting in the back seat of my grandparents Lincoln Towncar driving to McDonald’s for a 99 cent happy meal. I love his old school classic Johnny Cash/Waylon Jennings/Hank Williams vibe.
3 – Finnish Baseball – Pesapallo
I either forget hearing about this or it somehow slid by me, but I learned about Finnish baseball for the first time this week. Finland is on my wish list for travel sports. I will have to catch a game when that trip happens.
And you’re out. Have a great week
Josh
